International Shipping

(Air/Ocean Freight)

How much could your business grow if your international shipping ran seamlessly by air or by ocean?

Move your freight across borders with the same confidence as top global industry leaders, without the hassle.

Most businesses think international freight is complicated, expensive, and reserved for top global industry players. At TFWW, we make global shipping straightforward, giving you the same level of support and visibility they rely on.

We act as your external logistics team, handling the paperwork, navigating customs, and coordinating with overseas partners—so you can focus on running your business while staying confident that your shipments are moving the right way, every time.

Smarter Global Shipping

Every international shipment comes with different requirements—Incoterms, customs paperwork, and sometimes extra handling. Our experts match the best carrier and service (air or ocean) to your needs, and if there’s a smarter way to move your freight, we’ll suggest it.

With international shipments, visibility is everything. We’ll provide proactive updates, track your freight across borders, and communicate directly with your overseas suppliers and agents (in their local language and time zone). You’ll never feel left in the dark.

We take the complexity off your plate, managing vendors, automating status updates, and working with trusted partners like Janel Group for customs clearance and compliance. Whether it’s a commercial invoice, packing list, or certificates of origin, we’ll guide you step by step on what’s required.

  • Incoterms define who is responsible for shipping, insurance, customs clearance, and duties.

For example, under DAP (Delivered at Place), the consignee handles customs clearance and pays duties/taxes.

A great reference for this is actually wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incoterms

Specifically there is a very helpful chart if you scroll down the wiki to the “Allocations” section.

  • Most international shipments require a commercial invoice detailing the product description, country of origin, and value.

Additional paperwork (packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.) may be required depending on the product and destination.

  • If all paperwork is in order, shipments usually pass without issue.

However, customs has the right to inspect any shipment, and random checks may happen.

This will occur at a carrier’s bonded facility. Carriers are required to allow customs to inspect any shipment they please.

We advise taking great caution not to raise any red flags (such as trying to circumvent customs) in order to avoid inspections.

  • If you import into the U.S. more than three times a year, a continuous bond is recommended. Each importer must set up their own bond if needed.

  • Yes. We recommend you setup ACH billing with customs. This is a simple one time setup which we can walk you through. Easy peasy.
